Ext JS in Action Deploys in South Africa

We have developed a training class out in South Africa, as part of an outreach program to teach children aged between 10 and 15 to develop computing software. We are doing this under the sponsorship of the Grand West Casino, whom we developed their now online site for, so their clients could access their casino games like roulette and slots from the casino’s online platform.

The new class in software development will begin in early 2021 and will cover all tools used to build an online casino and various other platforms.

More of these tools are mentioned below with our blog news update.

Open source competition, but what is missing?

January 29, 2020 | Navigation warning in modern development and demonstration

Search the Internet for “open source” and the amount of access is shocking. There is nothing to deny that open source has become commonplace, as IBM said about Red Hat for $ 34 billion. Or maybe it is the product of open source Linux that more or less exists in its various distributions, especially the servers, cloud and many other devices that will trigger this move. Companies and governments have, of course, recognized the benefits of being able to change and adapt the source code. Most of the Internet is primarily under development and is under development using open source. Therefore, not only does it appear that the source code remains here, but the future of the computer also depends in part on the sensible use of this software. .

But what is missing? Why do companies that constantly reduce costs to increase efficiency choose property or commercial software? What are the benefits of open source and what are the pitfalls and concerns? What if you use open source software as an architect, designer, developer or software developer?

I want to answer these questions with my personal experience as the technical director of an innovative company, which, like most, is subject to intense financial and programmed pressure. As free and open source tools (FOSS) spread, there are best practices for using limited open source and commercial versions and for addressing some of the most difficult challenges facing developers and businesses today.

Personal experience

In 2007, I decided to move my hardware and software services business to the product business to survive the Great Recession and raise venture capital. Our new company has decided to focus on remote health care for patients with chronic diseases. This included the digitization of devices, an innovative user tablet platform with an open source hardware reference that we have developed significantly.

We have also created a complete clinical access system to the e-health record / online e-health record to define incoming telemetry thresholds to trigger alerts and provide a database of billions of small pieces of information for hundreds of millions of potential patients. . The system was developed using a combination of PHP, Open Source MySQL and other technologies, some were developed at home, others as open source applications.

Like all good development companies, we are constantly striving to improve processes and find ways to reduce the workload and, most importantly, the need to deliver products, sell systems and licenses, and achieve profitability. . To meet the requirements of the program, we had to be innovative, smart about what we found and what we borrowed.

We all know that the world of open source has come a long way and has become a completely standard option for many projects and even some of those products with the added use of GCC, Linux, etc. But would there be a better approach for this? Perhaps a hybrid approach which could lead to better things, that offers the users the benefits of open source DMX.11. services (faster prototypes and demonstrations) but provides solid and technical support for a commercial offering?

Hybrid models are popular today. For example, hybrid cloud computing, which includes certain enterprise (or private cloud) servers along with a public cloud, makes economic and technical sense, so companies like IBM, Dell, and HPE have adopted it. like yours. The main sales strategy in the cloud. Is there an analogy for network and mobile phone developers?

Open source licenses can be difficult

February 21, 2020 | website

Learning to manage different types of open source licenses is a challenge for GPLv2, GPLv2, Apache and BSD. When we changed the design of our hardware referencing platform (which is for online users, an open source DZ.1125. bay DOCK project), we knew that all changes corresponding to bits in open source had to be sent to different open source projects, which are still a problem. , especially for investors

Our software includes open source software, Angstrom Linux (later upgraded to Android), a combination of patented and open source device drivers, our own sensor engine to control various medical devices and browser platforms. Tablets for our looks and knowledge (perhaps one of the earliest browser technologies that dominated the user interface). We have a combination of open source widgets and integrated interface. We had to find a way to find out what the source of the code was and who had the right to modify it. The release of GPLv3 reduces some open source problems, but the fact is that different types of projects in GitHub or other open source (d) repositories use different licenses. Today there are GPLv3, MIT, Copyleft and others. Not all projects have a valid MIT license.
